Recap: Victory on the Road
León pick up points on the road and inch closer to direct qualification to liguilla with three matches to go.
Ariel Holan's boys picked up an important road win at Puebla, and continue to climb the standings with hopes of reaching one of the top 4 positions that guarantees a direct ticket into the playoffs.
Neither side was able to scratch in the first half despite both sides having clear and unobstructed chances at goal. Rodolfo Cota was crucial in stopping multiple attempts by Puebla's strikers, while Ángel Mena was unable to put away the perfect opportunity in the first half which was kicked over the crossbar.
In the second half, Puebla had the first chance of opening the score as Juan Pablo Segovia's header struck Rodolfo Cota's post. That would be the last opportunity for Puebla for the remainder of the match.
Minutes later, Víctor Dávila took advantage of a loose ball in Puebla's area and acrobatically struck the ball off of the post and into the back of the net. The goal was annulled by VAR, however, and the match remained scoreless.
Seconds later in the 65th minute, Ángel Mena brought down a pass in Puebla territory and as he attempted to body-up the opponent, Juan Pablo Segovia kicked the ball into his own net – giving León the one goal advantage.
Segovia's own goal would prove costly as it would give León the win.
