League's Cup Hangover

5 matches in 14 days; wear and tear becomes evermore evident on the players.

León suffered their second consecutive loss in the Liga BBVA MX against Atlas by a final score of 2-0.

La Fiera were held to zero shots on target through 90 minutes despite having 71% possession and 84% pass accuracy. Strategically, Diego Cocca bested Ariel Holan by winning the midfield battle and dismantling León's attacking strategy.

Luis Montes – who returned to the starting line up after recovering from an injury suffered in week 2 against Mazatlán – looked to be the weakest link in León's midfield. Today's captain was unable to assume his usual MVP form that we're accustomed to witnessing in recent seasons.

Ariel Holan attempted to adjust the attack by substituting Omar Fernández, Víctor Dávila, and Santiago Ormeño, and although they provided a different look off the bench, the best defense in the league were not dislodged.

The only positive is that we have no injuries, and from now on we will only focus on the league title. that gives me peace of mind.

Ariel Holan

This loss represents the third loss of the season for León under the command of Ariel Holan, and the third in which the opponent held León scoreless.

Having played 5 matches in 14 days, tired legs and physical exhaustion became evermore evident on players like Angel Mena, William Tesillo, and Santiago Colombatto – three players who have played a large chunk of minutes during these past 14 days of action.

León will play Atletico de San Luis on Saturday October 2nd at home in week 12, as match week 11 has been delayed due to the upcoming Campeones Cup for Cruz Azul – which is set to be played on the 29th of September.

Following week 12, the club will have a longer rest period as the upcoming FIFA Qualifiers for November approach.
